The CHURCH (YOU and I) is the ground of God for the SEED (His WORD) to be planted in.(Lk 8:11)
When we receive the SEED and allow it to GROW, then we become the SOWER. The WORD becomes FLESH(Jn 1:14)
As the SOWER who now has SEEDS(From one seed in us, we now will have MANY SEEDS) so we must GO FORTH TO SOW.(Matt 13:4)
In order to SOW we must SEE and ENTER into the KINGDOM OF GOD FIRST.
Once the KINGDOM OF GOD IS IN US, WE BECOME THE KINGDOM, and when WE ARE THE KINGDOM of GOD, then God will ADVANCE HIS KINGDOM(US) to IMPACT the KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD.
KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD- are the “Kingdoms of Man, controlled by Satan) (Lk 4:5)
Hence the ORIGINAL MANDATE and MISSION of the ORIGINAL CHURCH is to “ BRING these KINGDOMS of the WORLD to become the “KINGDOMS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST” (Rev 11:15)
Now HOW do we do this??
We do this by the MANDATE and the MISSION that Jesus has given us when Jesus said for us to “ GO” (Matt 28: 19)
MANDATE: The word mandate means authoritative command or instruction; a formal order or commission granted by a superior;
As an “ APOSTOLIC CHURCH” we have an APOSTOLIC MANDATE.
The apostolic mandate is the divine directive given by God to a person that comes with the delegated authority to carry out a specific decree or order.
A) The APOSTOLIC MANDATE (Matt 28:19)
1.TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS AND TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD-through the gospel and empowering the people of God to impact their communities and the world around them.
This will release the PROCESS OF TRANSFORMATION that will cause the people to mature and challenge them to rise to new realms in Christ and beyond the control and dictates of religion.
RELIGION will be put to an end when the people of God become HIS DISCIPLES and not the disciples of their “DENOMINATIONS”.
2.TO LAY THE FOUNDATION, OVERSEE , ESTABLISH and MAINTAIN- God’s divine order in the Church.
This will bring an end to RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS and the DOCTRINES OF MEN which bind the creation of God in ignorance and darkness.
It will facilitate the DELIVERANCE from the MIND OF MAN to God’s creation with entrance into His kingdom through salvation.
It will begin to ERIDICATE SIN CONSCIOUSNESS, which has been unlawfully placed upon the body of Christ, through the power of the blood of the eternal sacrifice, Jesus Christ.
The mandate of Jesus Christ was to reveal the Father
The mandate of John the Baptist was to call a nation to repentance and prepare the way of the “Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world”
Paul’s mandate was to go to the Gentiles to proclaim “Christ in you, the hope of glory” along with the many hidden mysteries of God.
Peter’s mandate was to go to the Jews and reveal the fulfillment of the law, Jesus Christ.
The mandate of Moses was to deliver the children of Israel, bring order to the people, and raise up a kingdom of priests.
Joseph’s mandate was to feed the nations.
The apostolic mandate removes this fear, for once embraced, it is no longer all about us but it is all about Him and it brings the freedom to come together unconditionally for the will of our Heavenly Father.
There is a remnant of the people of God who are awakening to the apostolic mandate that is upon the church through the restoration of the apostolic and prophetic callings.
This restoration is bringing strength and resolve to us as we venture forward in the establishment of the kingdom.
Let us continue to pray and respond to the apostolic mandate that is upon us in this hour to establish His wonderful kingdom.
B).THE APOSTOLIC MISSION : (Matt 28:19-20)
The APOSTOLIC MISSION of the Church was first given to the NATION OF ISRAEL to be a BLESSING and to bring the other nations to God. (Gen 12 : 3)
Jesus now gives us his CHURCH this APOSTOLIC MISSION and that is – TO MAKE DISCIPLES and to do this the APOSTOLIC WAY we must ensure that it is carried out according to his word.
The Church’s Mission
The Church is given the same mission assigned to Israel.
Like Israel before, the church is comprised of a particular people blessed by God in order to be channels of blessing to the entire world.
The church, the new covenant community of God, is the new nation – the new salt, light, and city set on a hill, given the commission of Israel to be a light to the nations of this earth. (Matthew 5:13-16).
The call is summarized in the mandate to “make disciples” – pupils, students, learners, followers of Christ.
This is done through :
Every account of the commission has this element. We cannot reach people if we never get where they are.
“Jesus did not command the whole world to go to church. Jesus commanded His church to go to the world.”(Jn 20 : 21)
2.MAKING DISCIPLES :
Every member of every church has been told to make disciples – the going is a necessary part of making disciples.
Where do teachers come from who will share Christ? They come from among the church members.
Where do preachers come from? It is not from seminary, but rather from among the church members.
Where do missionaries come from? They come from among the ranks of church members just like you.
God is still calling people to fields of labor, but too many people are not answering that call.
It was found that only 2% of all believers had ever introduced another person to Christ
3.BAPTIZING: – Through baptism into the triune name of God, people are initiated into the covenant community through personal identification and association with the living God.
Through faithful obedience to Christ’s teaching, Christ’s disciples follow him, demonstrating their allegiance through faithful works of love, mercy, and truth.
The commission is given to the entire church. Therefore, every member of the covenant community is to be involved in God’s mission.
4.TEACHING : Through TEACHING of HIS WORD the believer is brought to KNOW and UNDERSTAND the PRECEPTS of God.
Through this TEACHING, the believer is brought to OBEY EVERY WORD and this OBEDIENCE will bring about the TRANSFORMATION of his life.
OBEDIENCE is the KEY to making DISCIPLES. OBEDIENCE to his WORD and WAY is what we must impart to people.
OBEDIENCE will RELEASE the POWER OF GOD that SIGNS and WONDERS will follow you.
PARTICIPATING IN MISSION:
The church is a community with a mission. The entire church is given the responsibility to carry out God’s mission.
Mission is not simply for specialty groups or experts. Neither is missions simply an overseas trip.
Every facet of the church’s life should promote the mission of God, both locally and abroad.
All of God’s people are “goers” in whatever circumstance they find themselves in – sent into the world as channels of God’s blessing. Your FIELD to SOW SEEDS is the MARKET PLACE.
In this way, the church is an “apostolic community,” a community sent into the world to proclaim and live the gospel for the good of all.
Every believer is called to take part in this great work.
Jesus’ presence is found in the midst of his missional community: “I will be with you always.” This is where Jesus is most noticeably present in this world.
If the church desires to know Christ’s presence, it must be involved in Christ’s mission.
The church exists as a result of mission and for the sake of mission.
